Brandon Shaw McKnight is a multi-hyphenate artist whose work explores the ways performance, public art, and community engagement can illuminate the human experience. His projects blend theatrical storytelling with historical research, immersive design, and participatory elements that invite audiences to see themselves as active participants rather than passive observers.

Working across opera, theatre, and installation art, Brandon is particularly interested in creating spaces where classical works resonate with contemporary audiences while honoring their emotional and cultural foundations. Whether directing an opera, developing a public art installation, or teaching students, his work centers on curiosity, connection, and the belief that art can inspire people to reflect, learn, and imagine new possibilities.

Brandon has directed productions and developed projects with organizations including New Camerata Opera, Opera Columbus, More Art, Broadway Bound Kids, Maryland Opera, Annapolis Opera, and Chicago Summer Opera. HIs work has been recognized for its inventive visual storytelling, collaborative spirit, and ability to make classical performance feel immediate and accessible.

A Baltimore native now based in New York City, Brandon continues to develop work that bridges disciplines, builds community, and expands opportunities for audiences to engage with music, theatre, history, and one another.
